We are looking for part time (20 hours a week) Medical Records Clerk to provide clerical support and assist the Health Information Director. The position requires basic computer skills (profiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), typing, filing and record keeping. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology and good work organization and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities:

• Answers all incoming phone calls into the Health Information Department and takes messages. Assists all callers with questions, concerns, or requests effectively and efficiently.
• Maintains and processes patient records and other documents in the medical records department.
• Delivers medical documents to the patient units.
• Accurately performs filing activities for discharged medical records.
• Accurately performs filing activities for discharged medical records.

• Education: High School Graduate or GED
• Experience: One year in health information department preferred or familiarity with medical record functions and willingness to learn.
• Skills: Good written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of Medical terminology. Working knowledge of computers, skills in use of basic office equipment. Records maintenance, receptionist skills (switchboard experience). Ability to prepare and print routine correspondence, labels and other basic material familiarity with HIPAA and privacy rules.
• Physical Requirements: Requires exerting up to twenty pounds of force occasionally (lift, push, pull) medical records and/or carts. Ability to move briskly and freely about the deparmtne and throughout the campus. Must be able to climb on step stool, crouch, and reach to retrieve and/or file records and documents. Extensive sitting, standing, and walking for approximately two to six hours per day.
