Role:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor primary responsibility in this role is to ensure product produced are safe and within quality standards. A background in a food/dietary supplement industry a plus. Ability to work in a strong team-based environment is essential. Reporting to the Factory Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor will operate out of the Vital Proteins production facility in Franklin Park. The Factory Quality Manager will serve as a back-up for this role.

What you will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise Quality Assurance Lead and Technicians, ensuring assigned tasks and positions are being executed as specified.
• Schedule QA technicians and monitor attendance and performance.
• Oversee product release such as finished product, raw materials, WIP and packaging components.
• Develop training materials and ensure leads and technicians are up to date in all training required.
• Assist in the investigation of customer complaints.
• Assists in the execution of Vital Proteins Quality Systems and Food Safety programs.
• Lead Quality’s process improvement initiatives.
• Perform internal audits per policies.
• Be able to develop new processes based on identified gaps.
• Report, monitor and trend Quality KPIs.
• Review Quality documents & operational processes including pre-op and sanitation.
• Enforce GMP standards throughout the Vital Protein’s facilities.
• Educating employees regarding the HACCP, GMP, NSF and SQF programs and adherence to its guidelines and principles.
• Support QA Manager on 3rd party audits
• Be able to create review and approve documents such as SOPs, SSPOs and specifications.
• Back up for QA Lead.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• High level of attention to detail.
• 4 years of manufacturing and/or quality control experience preferred. Food, pharma or dietary supplement industry experience preferred.
• Good mathematical and statistical skills required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• Must be able to handle multiple assignments.
• Proven capabilities to influence and delegate.
• Must be precise, accurate, and well organized.
• Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computer systems, personal computers, and spreadsheet software (i.e.,Microsoft Office). Proficiency in SAP/GLOBE systems is preferred.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Can lift 25-50 lbs. on occasion.
• Able to work flexible hours.
• Able to stand and walk during most of 10-12-hour work shifts
