Job Duties
The Virginia Museum of the Civil War at the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park is accepting applications for a part-time Historical Interpreter/Office Aide.
Job Duties:
• Presenting quality interpretation to groups and general park visitors.
• Assisting with coordinating special events and living history programs.
• Providing superb customer service.
• Providing administrative support.
Hours: 8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m., Hours worked as needed by management, weekend work required.
$15.00 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge in history & strong communications skills.
• Enthusiasm for working with the public.
• Self-motivated; quick learner.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Poise, reliability & friendly, professional manner.
• Proven experience with customer service.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of an office environment.
• Ability to be flexible.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in public speaking.
• Ability to read and assimilate a substantial amount of historical information and to communicate it accurately to the visitors.
• Ability to work well under pressure of large groups of visitors and unexpected occurrences.
