Reports To

Shift Manager

SCOPE OF POSITION

Responsible For Overseeing All Mixing and Batching Operations Including

  • Mixing room and Grinding rooms and equipment set-up
  • Batching
  • Formula mixing
  • Meat grinding
  • Sifting and grinding
  • Coordinate with production

The Mixing Area Lead also actively participates in internal company system audits including building & system inspections, corrective actions, policy development, HACCP & GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice), and food safety systems.

Specific Duties

  • At shift exchange, communicate with incoming Area Lead all details including finished and unfinished work, any problems that happened, any missing tools, any safety issues, or any other relevant or helpful information
  • Check all orders and scheduling of department activities
  • Responsible for scheduling labor for each process
  • Print labels and other needed paperwork
  • Responsible for operation of the grinders, and mixers.
  • Responsible for accurately mixing and producing all formulas including extruded, formed, and cold formed products to be sent over packaging.
  • Responsible to ensure recipes are followed and meets SQF (Safe Quality Food) and Quality standards
  • Responsible for grinding meats for prep in mixing
  • Ensuring all materials, liquids, powders, etc., are ready for mixing procedure
  • Communicate with Shift Lead regarding daily schedule
  • Manage all employee’s activities and performance, helping them to be successful in their roles
  • Train all employees to perform Area Lead duties and improve their leadership skills
  • Make safety the number one priority in assigned area
  • Report incidents properly
  • Ensure all paperwork and reports are accurate and turned in on time
  • Document information for future reference
  • Responsible for upkeep and cleanliness of all Mixing areas, machines, and raw goods areas.
  • Works to minimize waste and maximize production of weigh up, grinding, and mixing by seeking out new ways to increase productivity
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Notifies supervisor of any pest or rodents so that they can be contained and do not contaminate the product.
  • Notifies supervisor of any accident, facility, or equipment damage, or of any equipment breakdowns.
  • Responsible for food safety.
  • Make SQF standards and Lean thinking a daily habit.
  • Help whenever and wherever is needed.

Personal Qualifications

  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Math skills required.
  • Good English skills, both written and verbal are important.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree desirable, (3-5 years of increasingly responsible production plant experience can substitute for college degree.)
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in as many of the following areas as possible is preferred.

  • Analytical - able to review and process data
  • Computer proficiency
  • Basic mathematical proficiency
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English.

Temporary Replacement

The temporary replacement for this position will be the Shift Manager and, Mixing-Batching / Logistics Technician.
