VHB is Hiring a Stormwater -Water Quality Senior Specialist /PM Near Watertown, MA

Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHBs growing Watertown, MA team is looking for a water resources professional to join its dynamic team of Water Resource scientists and engineers and support our growing water quality and stormwater regulatory planning and compliance work. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a cutting edge, innovative team of multidisciplinary professionals working on water resources work such as MS4 stormwater program management, stormwater-related policy review and guidance, integrated water resources planning, resiliency planning, watershed management and stormwater treatment planning, stormwater master planning, and Clean Water Act permitting-related tasks.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities would include a range activities which may include:

  • Participate as technical lead, task and project manager and mentor in an interdisciplinary water resources team
  • Identify short-term deadlines, deliverables and tasks as well as long-term client goals
  • Lead a project team developing stormwater regulatory compliance programs for state and local government clients
  • Oversee field investigations including, but not limited to, stormwater system inspections, construction site inspections, stormwater system mapping, and water quality sampling
  • Develop data management tools in ArcGIS, including ArcGIS OnlineAnalyze and interpret data related to water quality and drainage asset management to develop appropriate next steps for clients
  • Develop innovative approaches for internal and client workflows
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports, graphics, and guidance documents
  • Lead the development of federal, state, and local permit applications
  • Identify stormwater program funding approaches, including preparing grant applications and developing stormwater enterprise funds

  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Strong project management and budget tracking skills
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Massachusetts MS4 Permit, and Massachusetts Wetland Protection Act
  • Data analysis and visualization skills a plus
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software a plus
  • Working understanding of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and spatial database development
  • Understanding of hydrologic processes, water quality treatment mechanisms, and drainage system design concepts
  • Ability to travel, if required

Qualifications

  • BS in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science or related discipline
  • 8 years required, 11 years preferred of stormwater, water quality, and/or regulatory experience, including project management experience
  • Experience supervising or mentoring a plus
