Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Construction Inspector (on-call)

VHBs growing and we're looking for qualified Senior Construction Inspectors to work on an as needed basis (great deal of flexibility on locations and work arrangements) to work on a variety of roadway, bridge and other transportation based construction projects in the New England region.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor construction to provide assurance that the project is being constructed in accordance with approved plans and specifications
  • Act as the primary Liaison between Project Managers, Clients, Contractors, Subcontractors and the general public on construction projects
  • Review Shop drawings to document conformance with the contract documents.
  • Review of pay requisitions from contractors
  • Review of material tests results and reports
  • Document construction activities in daily electronic reports
  • Coordinate with the Design Engineers to address Contractors questions
  • Prepare project punch lists and review as-built plans to document completion of work

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Ability to work well in team-oriented structure
  • MS Office Suite skills

Qualifications

  • 5 years required, 10 years preferred of construction inspection experience and/or design and inspection experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of DOT Highway Construction Specifications
  • Demonstrated record of success working on public and private sector projects
  • Valid drivers license plus a reliable vehicle
  • Professional Licensure preferred
