Our team has partnered with a trusted client in the Grand Rapids, Michigan community in finding a PAYROLL ASSOCIATE for their team.

  • Collaboratively work with the payroll team to process pay files (i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, monthly special, and bonus) for both Hourly and Salaried Associates. Analyzes, audits, reconciles and resolves routine payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing. Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state, IRS and local tax rules and regulations.

  • Can calculate special pay for overtime, holiday, disability and other special pay circumstances.
  • Can audit and validate tax withholding and deposits. Ensuring the proper computing and withholding of taxes. Tax includes: Federal withholding, FICA withholding, various state withholding, various local withholding, Federal and State Unemployment, and filing of Federal 940’s and 941's.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of all wage verifications, wage assignments, garnishments, wage tax levies, and support orders.
  • Various year-end preparation and auditing tasks, which includes collaboration with other teams or departments.
  • Assist in the distribution and auditing of annual W-2 statements. Responsible to reconcile the related wages, taxes, pre-tax deductions, taxable fringes and other compensation adjustments with the annual payroll reports.

Responsible for reconciling the payroll accounts.

  • Prepare and audit journal entries using ADP General Ledger for hourly and salary payrolls.
  • Responsible for maintaining the electronic time clock system for hourly Associates and for collecting hourly timecard reports. Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining the electronic timesheet program for the non-exempt salaried Associates. Validates timekeeping data received from Associates.
  • Verifies validity of charges, schedules and calculations. Reviews time sheets, reports, and work schedules; reviews and reconciles errors with employees, management and within system.
  • Ensures programmed calculations in automated system perform accurately on standard workday, vacation, holiday, absence, short-time or other conditions affecting employees' pay or accounting distribution.
  • Resolves employee and management questions and problems related to time and attendance and any other payroll system related questions. May be required to train employees as well as managers on timekeeping and system procedures.
  • Responds to inquiries from Associates regarding deductions, calculations, and changes in compensation.
  • May perform analyses and reviews of data, develop reports for supervision review.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual financial plan and the various financial updates.
  • Assists with various aspects of the annual Open Enrollment Benefit process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of previous, relevant payroll experience, or CPP certified
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • ADP experience, preferred
  • Proficiency in working with Windows, database driven systems, and report-writing software
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, while handling multiple tasks with an excellent attention to detail
