General Description

We are currently offering an opportunity for a Lifecycle Engineer in our fast paced, customer orientated Lifecycle Services team. The successful candidate would assist our Control System engineering customers and project teams in the development, delivery, maintenance and optimization of the state-of-the-art process control software called “DeltaV” The Lifecycle Engineering team maintains “DeltaV” from installation to its end-of-life. This is a customer-facing position requiring travel to our customers’ manufacturing sites to help commission and maintain their automation process control systems. Candidates must be able to work with customers in a professional manner while working under pressure during process startups and while troubleshooting issues. Typically, scopes of work include control panel grounding verification and commissioning, software installation and staging of server and network equipment, performance audits, performing cybersecurity assessments and system patching, designing virtual computer infrastructure, and troubleshooting electrical and equipment issues.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Approximately 75% of work is performed on-site at customer facilities (within driving distance of office)
  • Approximately 25-50% overnight travel for multi-day engagements
  • Design, build, and support IT-OT of control systems including:
    • Design of virtual computer infrastructure
    • Design of failover and backup/recovery systems
    • Network architecture design and administration
    • Install and troubleshoot computer networks (hardwired and wireless)
    • Setup Active Directories, Terminal Services and User Accounts
    • Deploy and manage thin client networks
  • On-site & remote support of customers’ distributed control systems including:
    • Perform System Performance Audits on customer systems
    • Troubleshoot field instrumentation and valve related situations
    • Troubleshoot and install Microsoft operating systems
    • Troubleshoot computer hardware related problems
    • Distributed control system commissioning and startup
    • On-site control system modifications and tuning
    • Setup interfaces to PLCs, Drives and Bus-Based Networks
  • Conduct training for end users
  • Assist in the quotation and technical sales support of control system field service solutions

Qualifications


Required Competencies

  • Ability to respond to Emergency Service Requests as Needed
  • Ability to meet project team commitments and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of customer project team.
  • Ability to provide clear and timely written documentation including field service reports, project updates, and time and expense reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Desire to participate in on-going learning (latest technologies).
  • Ability to transition back and forth between several tasks.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Safety Practices and PPE
  • Be a United States Citizen with a valid driver’s license.

Required Education and Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar technical degree.
