  • Corporate & Traded Credit: Investments in opportunistic and dislocated traded credit, as well as restructurings and liquidations in corporate, structured product, sovereign, and other credit instruments and related assets.
  • Real Estate Credit & Assets: Debt and equity investments related to commercial and residential real estate in public markets as well as private credit and asset-level investments in segments such as transportation and infrastructure.
  • Financial Services: Investments across the capital structure in consumer finance, commercial finance, and other areas related to financial services, including private credit lending, loan portfolio purchases, and private equity.

Opportunity
Värde is seeking an Analyst to join the Global Real Estate team and be part of an entrepreneurial organization that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and progressive thinking. The role will focus on Värde’s large and growing residential development and commercial real estate lending portfolios presenting opportunities for career development and growth. This role will include monthly valuation, financial analysis, reporting, active management, and capital markets activity, among other tasks and projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
Investment Management
  • Review and analyze investment performance vs. forecast; monitoring operational & forecast KPIs, debt covenant compliance and cash flow projections;
  • Perform detailed financial modeling, including credit analysis, cash flow, valuation, and investment return analyses;
  • Drive and enhance daily, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting dashboards across multiple real estate asset classes and portfolios;
  • Support Senior Investment Professionals with active asset management activities including business plan analysis, disposition strategies and valuation creation initiatives;
  • Work with various involved parties including, but not limited to, JV partners, attorneys, external asset managers.
Valuation & Reporting
  • Assist in monthly valuations process for all US real estate investments;
  • Perform detailed analysis to identify key drivers of valuation uncertainty and establish appropriate sensitivities for each driver;
  • Create and present valuation and performance reporting to our Valuation Committee;
  • Create and present valuation and performance reporting to the broader Real Estate team, including Senior Investment Professionals and Partners;
  • Interface and develop internal relationships with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relation functions on periodic reporting and ad-hoc requests;
  • Interface and develop external relationships with third party valuation providers and external auditors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, and/or Finance a plus);
  • Experience with CLOs, whole loans, Private Equity, and Real Estate (residential development and homebuilding) preferred;
  • 1-2 years of prior experience at a Big Four accounting firm, Hedge Fund, Asset Manager, Global Bank or within a valuation and/or performance management function is strongly preferred;
  • Basic understanding of GAAP Accounting as it relates to appropriate application of valuation policies preferred;
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel. Knowledge of Intex and DCF modeling experience a plus;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multitask and prioritize among many time-sensitive demands;
  • A team player, who will need to take a proactive and engaged approach to the job and who can work reliably and independently. This role would suit an inquisitive candidate, who is comfortable with a degree of uncertainty.
