JOB SUMMARY

Ensures the cafeteria remains ready for service in a timely manner. This position is also responsible to ensure that food presentation, cleanliness and readiness of food during the time of service. In addition, this position is responsible for balancing cash drawer during their shifts. Follows established kitchen sanitation guidelines at all times and prepares food according to therapeutic diet principles. Reports to Dietary Manager. Non-exempt position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Maintains cafeteria set up and end of day clean up.

* Performs daily end of shift report.

* Follows all register procedures, cleaning schedule and end of shift reports.

* Posts daily menus.

* Stores and stocks supplies and food as necessary.

* Provides food prep and plating for cafeteria.

* Maintains daily temperature log.

* Maintains tray line and cafeteria line in a clean, neat, and organized manner.

* Assists in delivery and pick up of food carts to patient care units at designated times.

* Responsible for stocking/restocking grab'n go.

* Disposes of trash and garbage in appropriate manner, when needed.

* Puts clean dishes and utensils away.

* Assists in preparing salads, sandwiches, desserts, and nourishments.

* Performs special cleaning duties as assigned by the food service director.

* Follows proper procedures during the time of service. Take temperatures and taste foods before tray line starts.

* Keep all condiments and utensils ready for time of service. Keep all beverages, cold box, chips ready and replenished during time of service.

* Refill coke machine, tray line refrigerator and maintain cleanliness for time of service.

* Maintain cash balance for his/her register during shift.

* Follows standardized cleaning, safety and sanitation procedures. Practices the "clean-as-you-go" philosophy.

* Be sure every area has clean trashcans in place. Discard all trash and empty cardboard bins.

* Stock and maintain par level in each unit.

* Stock and maintain food inventory in doctor's lounge.

* Responsible for keeping coffee machine clean in doctor's lounge and registration area

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Previous experience in health care or institutional food preparation preferred.

Food Handlers' Certification required within 30 days.

Required Skills

Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.

Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.

Basic computer knowledge required.

Functional Job Requirements:

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

Job requires heavy lifting on an occasional basis.
