Responsibilities:

The Surgical Services Service Line Coordinator provides leadership across clinical, administrative, safety, quality, and patient satisfaction domains specific to their assigned service line(s). This position takes the lead in understanding and advocating for the specific needs of the service line(s) through effective engagement of surgeons, APPs, staff and patients. This position also focuses on staff engagement and development of specialty teams to support the specific skill sets and needs of the service line(s). This position will also provide support to Perioperative Service and Administrative Leadership with staff education, service line initiative implementation, and act as a conduit with, Surgeons and Anesthesia regarding their Service Line. Functions as a hub of flow and communication in Perioperative Services for staff, patients, visitors, physicians. Acts as the liaison and point person among physician, OR, materials, management, to facilitate a seamless planning process; provides leadership across the domains of personnel management, financial management (supply chain), performance management, nursing practice management and process improvement for their service line(s); supports daily operations of the OR through team assignments, ensuring all rooms are setup and ready for first case on time starts, facilitating turnover and throughput and effective hand off techniques between care teams; supports future operations through collaboration with clinic staff, OR Scheduling Center, providers, vendor reps, sterilization, and materials management to ensure all needed people and equipment are available for future cases; primary interface to ensure appropriate supplies and implants are available for all cases; ensures availability of implants and grafts; ensures needed instruments are available for the cases; ensures appropriate vendors are contacted and available as needed; ensures that needed equipment is available in the OR rooms; assists with special needs, equipment and supplies; tracks tissue ordering, arrival and use; monitors expiration and consignment needs within their service line(s); supports perioperative services staff in orientation, standardization, training, and case performance within the service line(s); facilitates or provides in-services, introductions of new equipment and products, supplies and annual competencies; actively participates in departmental meetings, in-services, and committees; actively develops a sense of team, initiates and participates in team development; actively participates in all new hire and service line evaluations; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others, and improves the performance of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; assumes accountability for current standards established by professions, regulatory and governmental agencies; determines, translates and implements relevant standards and promotes department compliance; maintains standards of practice consistent with current research findings; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution and accepted by the University of South Alabama meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama, three years of experience in a perioperative setting. Active licensure in area of clinical focus with the state of Alabama. CNOR certification preferred.
