US Office of the U.S. Trade Representative is Hiring a Security Specialist Near Washington, DC

Duties

As a Security Specialist, GS-0080-12/13, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Research, author, implement, monitor, and/or modify policies, instructions, procedures, and control systems for activities involving security clearances and classification authority and guides, documents marking, safeguarding, and personnel access controls.
  • Collect information, interview employees, observe physical conditions and perform related activities concerned with the investigation and analysis of security violations, derogatory information and compromises that maybe related to counterintelligence and insider threats.
  • Serve as primary lead with EOP and other USTR business partners to coordinate the review and conduct annual inspections of USTR SCIFs and security containers where SCI materials are discussed, stored, reviewed, processed, and destroyed.
  • Develop, implement and provide oversight for required security education training and awareness programs related to SCI access and SCIF management.
  • Manage and support various USTR security programs and services by researching, developing, planning, coordinating with internal business partners, standardizing or streamlining procedures, and implementing policies in accordance with established directives.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify for the Security Specialist position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
    FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL:
    Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
    • Researching policies, and procedures for activities involving security clearances and classification authority and guides, documents marking, safeguarding, and personnel access controls;
    • Providing oversight for required security education training and awareness programs related to information security to provide recommendation to management for improvements; AND
    • Implementing changes to ensure compliance with national operational security standards, procedures and techniques.

    FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL:
    Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
    • Monitoring and/or modifying policies, instructions, procedures, and control systems for activities involving security clearances and classification authority and guides, documents marking, safeguarding, and personnel access controls;
    • Developing required security education training and awareness programs related to information security;
    • Monitoring program implementation and control practices to ensure classified information is protected and properly accounted; AND
    • Establishing and/or streamlining an organizations Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) policy and procedures as it relates to personnel, information, and physical security within the organization.
