Position Summary
PLEASENOTE: This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM,approximately 130 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.
The Universityof New Mexico-Gallup's Divisionof Fine Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences, anticipates hiring adjunctfaculty in the area of Political Sciences to teach online or face-to-facelower division courses (1000-2000 level) during Spring, Summer, and Fall 2024.We are specifically looking for (someone to teach one or more of the followingcourses:
POLS1120 (American National Government)
POLS1140 (The Political World)
POLS2110 (Comparative Politics)
POLS2120 (International Relations)
UNM Gallup is atwo-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately138 miles west of Albuquerque.The University of New Mexico establishedbranch colleges to provide the highest quality of education for studentspursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughout thestate. Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs andmulticultural backgrounds of their respective communities by offeringcommunity education programs, career and technical education includingcertificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that preparestudents for upper division entry into colleges and universities.
UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for allaspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meetingface-to-face or online (depending on modality) with the class during assignedtimes that may include evenings or weekends, content development and delivery,grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learningas outlined by the Division Chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offerings, and demand driven by graduationrequirements.Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up tothe deadline for students to drop or add courses.Candidates who areselected for these positions will report to the Division Chair.
Wages
Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentialsand credit hour course loads, as follows:

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

• Master'sdegree in Political Science; OR Master's degree and the successfulcompletion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited programin the discipline of Political Science

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhDin Political Science
• Successfulteaching experience at a post-secondary institution or successful teachingat a community college
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity,inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diversecommunities.
