Laboratory Research Technician

Posting Summary

Perform routine to complex laboratory and technical functions in support of pilot projects. Maintain specialized scientific laboratory equipment in departmental core laboratories. Mentor and train medical personnel new to laboratory research in the basics of laboratory experimentation. Serve as biosafety officer for departmental core laboratories.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in a biological science and one to two years of laboratory experience required.
Experience with handling of mice, mouse experimental models and maintaining mouse colonies required. Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts and experiments both verbally and in writing.

Contingent on continued funding, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Bargaining unit position, 75% of full time with full benefits package, Background Check required for this position
