Description of Duties
* Perform basic food preparation including: paring fruits and vegetables; reheating soups, sandwiches, sauces; toasting bread; assembling salads and sandwich fillings; preparing hot and cold beverages
* Operate point of sale systems, keying in sales, taking payments and making change; account for receipts
* Receive customer orders, answering questions about ingredients, recipes and pricing
* Gather, assemble, package and serve menu items and specialty beverages to customer order
* Stock food and beverage display areas and ensure that all food items are attractively displayed, meet all quality assurance standards, and are properly identified and priced; keep display cases full throughout shift
* Ensure that all foods used are properly handled, wrapped, dated, labeled and stored
* Maintain records of foods produced, foods wasted, and any recipe adjustments according to CBORD specifications
* Set up, clean, and maintain order of workstation, prep areas, service counters and seating areas
* Report safety issues, operational problems, and equipment malfunctions to lead/manager
* Frequently positions self to lift items or boxes/bins of product from floor or low shelving or placing items on low shelving for preparing or cooking food
* Perform all responsibilities to standards of Washington State health code, UW Dining, and CBORD specifications
* May direct student or hourly staff
* May participate in inventory using tally sheets
* Perform related duties as assigned
Position Dimensions
The position is a nine-month cyclic position that works mid-September to mid-June. Additional work may be available in the summer based on business needs and seniority. While staff are hired into specific positions, they may be reassigned to a different unit or schedule with two weeks of notice.
Minimum Qualifications
* Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
