The Eye Institute at Harborview has an newly created position that is an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR to join our team!

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Provide oversight and support to our Ophthalmic Technicians and perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures.

Collaborate with the Ophthalmology and Optometry teams and participate in clinic and selected divisional activities.

Offer advanced clinical expertise in ophthalmic care, as well as anatomy and physiology of systems and systemic diseases affecting patients' well-being, specific to the eye.

Harborview's Eye Institute is housed among the region's only Level I Trauma Center. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizes advanced clinical expertise in ophthalmic care, as well as anatomy and physiology of systems and systemic diseases affecting patients' well-being, specific to the eye.

Provides advanced ophthalmic skills to the outpatient and inpatient components of the Eye Clinic and related clinics including the Eye Institute, Karalis Johnson Retina Center, and UWMC-Montlake Eye Center.

Under general supervision of the manager, is responsible for the daily operations of the Eye Clinic to ensure efficient clinic operations and manage patient flow for multiple Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Ophthalmology Fellows, and Residents

The Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor is customer service-focused and possesses strong people and organizational skills and promotes collaboration, improved patient care delivery, problem-solving, communication and professional development.

Responsible to ensure that staffing needs and staffing schedules are maintained for the Eye Clinic and all other UW Medicine Ophthalmology clinics as necessary.

Supervises the front desk and referral coordinator personnel, and directly performs scheduling and referral coordination as required to support patient care.

Oversees surgical eye coordination care and participates as necessary to ensure the timely and appropriate scheduling of eye surgeries.

Responds to patient care and operational needs with direct coverage of any/all duties of reporting staff including Patient Services Specialist, Program Coordinator (referral coordinator), Patient Care Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technicians, Ophthalmic Specialists (diagnostic imagers) as needed.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of an Ophthalmic or Orthoptic Technician program AND five years of Ophthalmic experience

Certification appropriate for the clinical specialty; Certified Ophthalmic Tech

OR equivalent education/experience.
