The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which includes buildings, grounds, and utility systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Applicant must be willing to be trained in technical and troubleshooting issues and be able to react calmly in highly stressful situations. These individuals will be part of Facilities Service's response team to get new researchers in operation and provide solutions for existing researchers. Must work well with others to address any issues that come up assisting research. Must be disciplined in multiple trades including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC. Must be willing to learn computer applications. Must have good communications skills to assist in coordinating with all members of the Campus community including: staff, faculty, administration, visitors, contractors, and vendors. Assists in the coordination related to services and activities for internal personnel and outside contractor to ensure timely and efficient results. Contributes to the overall success of Facilities Services by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school degree (or GED) required.

(4) Four years of experience or trade school and experience. (Experience my substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.)

Must have a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle in Tennessee and possess an acceptable driving record.

The applicant should have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, staff, all university personnel, visitors, contractors and vendors; also, work with others in a respectful, cooperative manner. Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance, be in good physical health and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities. Applicant must have the ability to climb a ladder and/or work on lift when height of task is over six (6) feet high. Ability to utilize power tools. Applicant must be able to wear a respirator.
