Job Description Summary
The Manager, Clinical & Research Operations position will manage clinical and laboratory operations for research studies and projects.
Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with best clinical practices, HIPPA, and other federal/institutional requirements, as well as meet obligations to patient/subject, Principal Investigator, research team and the sponsor(s). Directly interfaces with patients/subjects, the Principal Investigator, and study team in support of the clinical trials.
Job Description
CLINIC OPERATIONS: Supervise clinic operations of study visits; including, but not limited to: monitoring and ensuring efficient patient/subject scheduling and preparations; manage inventory of study-related supplies; lead and manage clinical practice team of research hygienists, dental assistants and research assistants with a focus of ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
RESEARCH OPERATIONS: Collaborate and support clinical research coordinators in the conduct of study visits which including: participating in the informed consent process; recruiting potential subjects through review of medical records, physician referrals, advertising, and direct patient contact; assisting in the screening and enrollment of subjects; organizing and running study visits; performing study assessments and procedures as appropriate based on training and education; and assisting with the collection, preparation, shipment, and/or storage of biological materials using universal precautions.
RESEARCH SUPPORT: Support in recording of study data, and record, update, edit, and maintain confidential information onto paperwork or web-based forms in a neat, accurate, and timely manner; follow-up with items and patients/subjects as part of research study. Participate in study administrative activities, including active engagement participation in study meetings and assisting with the maintenance of complete and accurate subject charts, case report forms, study logs, hospital records from patient screening through final follow-up, and other essential documents.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Assist with collecting patient payments, releasing payments to subjects for their participation in research studies, and preparing billing statements. The position will also review payment records and reconcile discrepancies; ensure treatment corresponds to fee charges and payment received; notify patients regarding overdue payments; rearrange payment schedules.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE: Support quality control and quality assurance processes related to the study; implement study quality assurance and quality management plans; review study records, including study charts, case report forms, informed consent forms, and other essential documents, for accuracy and completeness; identify and seek appropriate correction of any errors or omissions within the study records; draft reports of quality assurance activities and provide such reports to the appropriate parties; assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plans as necessary. Train research coordinators and dental professionals on infection control including room set-up, break-down, and sterilization of medical/dental instruments.
Perform other job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree and 2- 3 years related experience in academia, health care field, or other comparable combination of education, training and experience.
Background in dental assistance, dental hygiene or dentistry is preferable. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. Ability to make decisions independently. Ability to manage time, multi task and prioritize work. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems; ability to work well under pressure.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
