Center for People in Need is Hiring a Director of Marketing and Public Relations Near Lincoln, NE

The Center for People is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides innovative services and programs to the low-income community in Lincoln, Nebraska, addressing basic needs and providing opportunities to achieve economic independence for our clients. 

The Center has been fighting poverty in Lincoln, Nebraska since 2003. We are the Food Bank of Lincoln's largest partner, distributing food to more than 5,400 low-income families. We are also home to Lincoln's first Diaper Bank, established to meet the growing need for diapers in our community. Education is the key to helping low-income individuals obtain economic independence. As such, the Center developed educational and training programs to help people obtain employment with a living wage.

We are currently looking for a Director of Marketing and Public Relations. This position is a full-time, 40 hour per week, onsite position. 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS 

The Director of Marketing and Public Relations is responsible for shaping the organization's image through strategic planning, media relations, content creation, crisis management, and building awareness and positioning around our organization's mission, vision, and values. They are results-driven and develop and evaluate strategies aligned with organizational objectives, cultivate media relationships, ensure consistent messaging internally and externally, and maximize market share. Their role is essential in expanding and representing our brand effectively to the public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and mentor the Marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence• Delegate tasks to members of the Marketing team, and monitor progress• Evaluate and develop a targeted marketing strategy and marketing plan to build brand awareness and positioning• Define strategic communications plan, supporting the organization's mission, programs, impact, and stories to key stakeholders, donors, and the public• Develop and manage marketing efforts around fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special events. Define, track, and report success markers• Coordinate marketing projects from start to finish• Ensure brand consistency in all marketing content• Oversee social media marketing strategy, website management, and content marketing• Act as a spokesperson for the organization, handling media inquiries and interviews as needed• Monitor marketing and communication trends to identify opportunities and adapt strategies as needed• Ensure consistent messaging, branding, and storytelling across all communications channels and platforms to reinforce the organization's identity and values• Oversee the development and implementation of a crisis communications plan to effectively manage and mitigate potential issues, controversies, or negative publicity• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to align public relations and communications efforts with organizational goals and initiatives

• Support strategic leadership in response to affirming organizational goals• Operate following all contracts, government regulations, and Center for People policies and procedures• Exhibit high integrity and ability to set and maintain ethical professional boundaries• Maintain a flexible work schedule to ensure organizational needs are being met, including occasional evenings and weekends to support Center for People coordinated events• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to plan content long-term to reach organizational goals and objectives• Interest in building relationships and partnerships within the community• Emboldened by challenges• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing• Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders• Ability to promote teamwork and maintain positive working relationships with all employees and departments• Skilled at possessing professionalism, courtesy, tact, and sound judgment• Ability to write reports and business correspondence effectively present information and respond appropriately to internal and external stakeholders• Skilled at working with a diverse group of individuals• Ability to work under time constraints• Ability to maintain confidentiality• Willingness and ability to learn new software programs• Ability to receive constructive feedback• Ability to take personal accountability for fulfilling job responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and taking initiative and ownership of personal performance

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field preferred OR minimum of 4 years of work experience in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Multilingual is a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent required• Valid Nebraska driver’s license and current motor vehicle insurance• Must be legally authorized to work inside the United States
