University of Michigan is Hiring a Clinical Research Assistant Near Ann Arbor, MI

Summary

We are looking for an exceptional applicant to join our research team in the fast-paced pediatric emergency medicine department. This is the entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. This position includes study screening and patient recruiting in the emergency environment and provides administrative and coordination support for multiple projects in the conduct of clinical research projects. Coordinators assist with study compliance and enrollment of patients in the pediatric emergency department, which includes direct interaction with patients, families, physicians and nurses. This position may also provide coordination for clinical research projects such as registries, retrospective data reviews, studies in long-term follow-up, and other non-interventional studies. Our research coordinator program is well established, and considered an integral part of the health care team in the pediatric ED with opportunities for professional development and career progression

Responsibilities*

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

You will join a research team and will collaborate and communicate with clinical care teams, investigators, data coordinating center teams, patients and families. As a member of the team, you will provide updates on progress of research, subject related challenges, recruitment strategies, and specific policies and procedures. You will develop and gain competency in the following areas:

1. Human subjects enrollment and pediatric specific policies

2. Scientific Concepts and Research Design

3. Ethical Participant Safety Considerations

4. Investigational Products Development and Regulation

5. Clinical Study Operations (GCPs)

6. Study and Site Management

7. Regulatory Management (IRBs)

8. Data Management and Informatics

9. Leadership and Professionalism

10. Communication and Teamwork

Supervision Received:

This position receives direct supervision from the CRC lead, investigators, and reports directly to a unit administrator.

Required Qualifications*

* High school diploma or GED is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

* Associate or bachelor's degree in health science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.

* An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.

* Effective organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.

* Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as with a team

* Excellent time management skills and attention to detail

* Exceptional ability in handling multiple tasks.

Work Schedule

This is a 40-hour-per-week position and will be shift based including availability for night and weekend shifts with a minimum of one weekend shift per month.

Work Locations

University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, University Hospital, Adult Emergency Medicine and Psychiatric Emergency Services.
