Kennedy Krieger Institute is Hiring a Clinical Social Worker (Early Learning Program) $10,000 Sign-On Bonus Near Baltimore, MD

Overview:

The Clinical Social Worker II provides attachment-based and trauma-informed infant and early childhood mental health services onsite in classroom-based setting, via telehealth, in the home, and/or other community locations to children and families participating in all components of the Early Childhood Education programs. This includes covering all programs at the Tudsbury location and collaboration with personnel at the Southeast Early Head Start program. The incumbent will provide programmatic support, consultation to other team members, and improve families access to multi-disciplinary specialists and other community resources as needed. This position will demonstrate leadership in clinical services; assist department leadership with training, program development, and other special projects contributing to the quality and growth of the department; and may also be responsible for performance improvement and program evaluation activities. The incumbent may supervise licensed graduate social workers and social work interns as needed.

Responsibilities:
  1. Complete initial screenings of children for entry requirements.
  2. Complete psychosocial assessments. Develop and update treatment plans/goals based on clinical treatment needs in collaboration with the family.
  3. Provide ongoing mental health services to children, and families utilizing a wide range of evidence-based techniques (such as Circle of Security) to engage assigned clients.
  4. Provide classroom consultations in coordination with behavior psychology regarding children with challenging behaviors, separation anxiety, and family engagement.
  5. Provide timely and appropriate documentation according to professional, departmental, and Kennedy Krieger Institute guidelines as well as the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
  6. Ensure the delivery of high-quality care based upon the needs of clients and families served across all components of the Early Childhood Education programs.
  7. Initiate and maintain contact with referral sources and other community providers to assist in the coordination of services and to foster productive relationships in the community.
  8. Foster a cohesive, positive, and supportive atmosphere and serve as a role model for less experienced staff.
  9. Supervise assigned licensed graduate social workers and social work interns as assigned
  10. Collect and record program data (e.g., Devereaux Early Childhood Assessment)
  11. Participate on projects that contribute to the growth of the Early Childhood Education Center, such as groups, special projects, trainee supervision, training, and publications.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess and maintain a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) license issued by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Masters degree from an accredited school of Social Work required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of four years of licensed clinical experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults required
  • Minimum one year in the provision of services to children with developmental disabilities, chronic health problems, of disorders of the brain preferred.
  • One year of pediatric and or family therapy experience preferred
