Summary of Job Duties:

This posting will fill multiple positions.

The Sterile processing Technician is a vital part to our team at the Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH) to provide the absolute best outcomes for our patients. This position decontaminates (disassembles, cleans by hand and/or machine) medical instruments & materials in the Sterile Processing Department. This is a position that has a lot of growth opportunity within the department and healthcare profession.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Experience- ALL EXPERIENCE LEVELS

* High School, GED or formal educational equivalent

* Ability to Follow Oral Instruction, Read and Write. Computer literacy in word/excel

* Good communication skills

Preferred Experience:

* Two (2) years SPD leadership experience preferred or Surgical Technical experience

* Professional License/Certification: IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certified

* CRCST/CIS

* Sterile Processing Experience

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

* Decontaminate (dis-assemble, clean by hand and/or machine) medical instruments/materials.

* Assemble and package, inspect and test instruments, re-assemble sets, place sets in proper containers and/or wrapping and load/transport loaded carts with prepared sets.

* Maintain record of loads and items being removed from department for processing. Transport loads to and from CSS and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment.

* Use and test sterilizing equipment; perform dart and biological tests for autoclaves; perform diagnostic and biological tests for Steris sterilizer.

* Record and accurately interpret results of tests; assist OR staff; help locate needed supplies and equipment.

* Communicate professionally even when under pressure/fulfilling demanding and/or stressful requests.

* Position revolves around serving the Operating Room's (OR's) sterile instrument and equipment needs.

* Must understand the URGENCY of the OR staff's requests.

* Answer directly to the Sterile Processing Manager.

* Other related duties as assigned.
