The Social Work Supervisor provides leadership for the Social Work services within Ambulatory Care in collaboration with, and under the direction of, the Administrative Director. He/she is responsible for supervising the daily workflow and work schedules of the Social Workers and support staff, with a focus on the appropriate utilization of services and resources. He/she works to ensure care is delivered to patients at University Hospital within appropriate timeframes to maximize patient flow and reimbursement. The Supervisor participates in performance improvement initiatives of the department. By fostering the concept of evidence-based practice and employing strategic interventions, the Supervisor ensures care meets the national, regional and University Hospital quality improvement standards. He/she provides decision support to patients, families, and physicians while meeting patient and family expectations.

Masters Degree in Social Work and licensed by the State of New Jersey as Licensed Clinical Social Worker required. Four (4) years of post-masters Social Work experience, at least two (2) years of which shall have been in a medical setting. Experience with discharge planning is required. Must possess the ability to analyze patient management and enthusiasm for the role of social work within Ambulatory Care. Strong verbal and written communication skills required, must demonstrate a strong orientation to customer satisfaction, effective teamwork, problem solving and utilizing small group dynamics in conflict management. Computer literacy required.
