Department Overview
Institutional Research & Academic Planning (IRAP) is a central service unit of the Office of the President. IRAP provides timely, accurate, consistent, and reliable information about UC and the environment in which it operates. Through evidence-based analyses, the department supports and guides enrollment planning, policy creation and revision, program and campus budget reviews, statewide higher education studies and UC operations. IRAP also produces the annual Accountability Report and UC Information Center, which assess and inform UC's activities, achievements and operations through data-driven narratives and visualizations.
Position Summary
The Manager reports to the Senior Director of Data Strategy, Governance and Management, and manages the business and systems analysis work on the Data Management team. The Data Management team is responsible for the technical delivery of multiple robust and dynamic reporting and analytics environments as well as the development and maintenance of data transformation rules and file submission and processing for the UC Data Warehouse (UCDW) and the IRAP Digital Commons. Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Manager is responsible for leading a specialized team of information and business systems analysts to conduct process analysis, systems analysis and develop process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices. Scope of work includes the analysis, design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of analytics solutions, data extractions and processing to support mission-critical analyses, reports, visualizations and dashboards that drive key business decisions. This position is housed at the University of California, Office of the President in the Institutional Research and Academic Planning (IRAP) office. It directly contributes to the ability of administrators and key decision-makers to apply educational data to the improvement of student and institutional outcomes. The Manager receives department assignments in the form of objectives and understands goals and processes by which to meet department goals and objectives. The incumbent exercises judgment within defined procedures, policies, and department protocol to determine appropriate action. The Manager must be a seasoned project manager with the ability to lead complex projects of critical importance to the organization that carry substantial consequences of success or failure.

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within the state of California. The selected candidate must reside within the state of California, or be willing to relocate.
