As the Student Workforce Integration Lead you will provide career advising, job preparedness training, externship assistance and job placement support to students and graduates from Workforce Development partners. Will advises participants on job search strategies and the logistics of externship expectations and performance as well as securing and maintaining a job in the field of study. Generate job leads and externship sites for modular programs to meet externship-to-hire goals and placement needs for annual accreditation reporting. Maintain and build new relationships with externship sites and employers to address staffing solutions providing ongoing support and follow-up with externship students and/or placements for assigned Workforce Development partners.

Will serve as the lead coach, trainer for guide for Externship Academic Staff on the Workforce Development team helping ensure externship-to-hire and employment outcomes are met.

Job Description

Make an Impact on Student Lives by: 

  • Partner with assigned campus(es) in the placement of graduates in employment opportunities related to their field of study in compliance with accreditation guidelines, benchmarks and company employment outcomes goals.
  • As needed, provide guidance to students and employers for the job preparedness, externship, employment, and placement processes driving externship-to-hire conversions for Workforce Development partners in the geographic areas in which the students and graduates reside.
  • As requested and in partnership with campus Career Services and (WFD) Externship team, generate externship and employer partner database through cold calling, mailing, and site visits.
  • Assist in the qualification, evaluation, and maintenance of externship site partners obtaining affiliation agreements in assigned geographic area(s) where Workforce Development enrolled students and partners reside.
  • Partner with assigned campuses Career Services and (WFD) Externship teams to meet externship-to-hire and graduate placements goals as outlined by Unitek Learning internal metrics in addition to accreditation and regulatory body requirements.
  • Document and maintain detailed and accurate student, graduate, and employment records in CampusVue.
  • Participate in Campus Career Services, Externship and Workforce Development meetings as needed or requested.
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with students, graduates, externship sites and employer partners from the Workforce Development partners documenting all activities in CampusVue.
  • If requested by campus Career Services or (WFD) Externship teams, monitor student externship training for Workforce Development and/or traditionally enrolled Medical Assisting students in compliance with accreditation and Department of Education rules and regulations, company policies and all other related industry regulations.
  • If requested by campus or Workforce Development staff, serve as a back up to provide orientation for the externship, on-site supervisors and students.
  • If requested by campus or Workforce Development staff, collect, enter, and upload externship documents and complete externship and student evaluations in compliance with accreditation and programmatic requirements.
  • May require some travel to locations where Workforce Development partners or students and graduates are located.
  • Manage special projects and other duties as assigned.

Success Metrics & Key Results

  • For assigned campuses that have a working headcount of < 100 Medical Assisting students, achieve 65% externship-to-hire conversion for assigned campuses.
  • For assigned campuses that have a working headcount of > 100 Medical Assisting students, achieve 45% externship-to-hire conversion for assigned campuses.
  • Meet minimum ABHES and ACCSC employment rate benchmark of 70% for each cohort reporting year striving to meet Unitek Learning goals of 87% employment rate for assigned campuses.
  • Meet weekly/monthly, graduate placement run rates and supporting placement producing activity goals to ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance benchmarks are exceeded and internal Unitek Learning goals are met. Placement Producing Activities include in and outbound phone calls to graduates and employers, texts, emails, job orders received, resume submittals, graduate interviews, job offers and graduate hires.
  • Minimum Employer Survey response rate of 40%

Hourly Rate: $26.00 - $30.00

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant and five years in the vocational education industry supporting Medical Assistant education, training externship and graduate placement.
  • Strong proficiency in Career Services and Externship practices for Medical Assisting in the vocational education industry.
  • Must have demonstrated aptitude and operational knowledge in career services and academic externship processes and operations.
  • Experience with ACCSC and/or ABHES accreditation bodies are a plus.
  • Ability to gather data, analyze results, and present findings.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in all departmental operations, accreditation and regulatory guidelines, reporting, metrics, auditing, and documentation needs.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor with excellent competency in relationship building with students, graduates, externship partners and employers.
  • Strong researching skills to identify and pursue externship and employer partners in communities where students and graduates reside.
  • Ability to generate leads, meet externship-to-hire initiatives and meet placement goals per accreditation and regulatory body standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with CampusVue/Nexus, Canvas and Customer Relationship Management Tools are a plus.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
