MS Directional
The Directional Drilling Choice
With over 30 years of industry experience, MS Directional holds an established presence in most major producing onshore oil and gas basins and is a leader in onshore directional drilling in the United States.
The Machinist will be working on a CNC Lathe that will be cutting a variety of mud motor parts. Machinists are required to make sure that after cutting each part, all measurements are accurate and that all parts are usable. Additionally, this role will perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control checks on all parts before taken out of lathe.
Detailed Description:

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, manuals, and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Ability to start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required.
• Operate, and perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.
• Document inspections, test results, repair work done.
• Ensure the shop space is clean and organized.
• Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order.
• Safely operate forklift to move equipment around the yard.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time, Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while potentially walking on uneven surfaces.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
• Must be willing and able to work 6 to 6 shifts, be on call after hours, overtime on weekends/holidays as required.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
• Utilize various measuring equipment and the ability to operate an overhead crane.
• Stay alert and focused up including occasional extended work periods.
• Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch, and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third party.
• Understand the concept of tool wear and cutter compensation as well as knowledge of cutting feeds, speeds, and tool life.
• Ability to work with close tolerances (within .001)
• Ability to comprehend work offsets.
• The use of measuring equipment (dial calipers, OD, and ID Micrometers, Bore gage, etc.).
• Must have the initiative to complete basic housekeeping.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must live within a 1 hour driving distance to the shop.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year of experience on running a CNC Lathe
• Understanding of Mazatrol programming (lathe) is a plus.
• Must have knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Knowledge of machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, etc.

Additional Details:
The Machinist must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
