Position Summary
Manage and develop the Purchasing Department to ensure a Best-In-Class environment. Ensure all purchasing activities are in accordance with established operating procedures. Adhere to all company procedures, core values and policies.
Requires a willingness to work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines, if necessary.
Must be able to communicate in the English Language.
Responsibilities:
· Manage, motivate, encourage, coach, and provide work instruction(s) to direct reports.
· Develop Purchasing staff including training, scheduling, setting performance goals, standards, and employee evaluations
· Establish, develop and maintain sources of supply based on requirements
· Manage records of solicitations, purchases, quotes and other relevant data
· Manage and update all policies and procedures for the Purchasing Department
· Coordinate necessary projects as directed by management to improve the overall efficiency of the procurement and function(s)
· Analyze, review, and finalize buyer sourcing decisions
· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships between Purchasing, internal and external customers
· Ability to work independently and use good time management, planning, organization, and decision-making skills
· Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to interface with individuals at all levels within the organization as well as outside
· Remain up to date on changing trends in price and availability of material and service to ensure a continued flow of material to meet production and sales needs; Supervise placement of purchase orders with suppliers to support sales and manufacturing requirements
· Other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum of Ten years of demonstrated experience in a purchasing management function, preferably in a manufacturing environment supporting government requirements
· Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws pertaining to purchasing and contract compliance as well as in-depth knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR)
· Knowledge of manufacturing business applications and concepts
· Purchase Order and Subcontract negotiation and preparation
· CPSM, CSCP, CPP, CIPS or APICS Certification is a plus
· Working knowledge of manufacturing business applications and concepts
· Working knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices, and techniques
· Excel
· MRP
