DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health's Interventional Radiology department perform procedures that offer patients non-surgical treatment options for many conditions and advanced treatments that are not widely available at most hospital systems. We have one of the world's first InSightec ExAblate MR-guided focused ultrasound units and other advanced technologies, such as helical CT scanners, that improve our ability to diagnose and treat our patients.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONERLevel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
• Six (6) months or more of active nursing experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Interventional Radiology experience or other procedural area experience including moderate sedation.
• 2 years of ICU or ED experience within the last 5 years

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week. Must be available 1 weekend shift every 4 weeks and 1 major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
