Salary:

The Central Office Technician is a pivotal role in overseeing the fiber optics network operations including customer / subscriber activation, works as a team member of Head of market responsible for managing the network including IP related activities, implementing the ethernet fiber optics converter and related electronic components, work collaboratively with Design, Sales, Field technicians & Construction, to support the growth and upgrades of telco outside plant facilities. This person will have to communicate with customers to determine requirements and thresholds for reporting drive project completions across multiple internal groups as well as define short- and long-term relief solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for all IP related activities in the market
  • Responsible for implementing EFC and all electronics components of the market
  • Responsible for managing fiber network operations of telco inside/ /FTTP in a local serving exchange / central office environment
  • Plan and provide guidance for ISP facility reinforcement for a geographical territory including management of IP related activities
  • Customer-facing role & responsible for overseeing subscriber activation activities and support custom network solutions
  • Support frontline project management for all EFC activities associated with inside plant customer orders
  • First engineering contract for all high-bandwidth customer requests requiring facility augments or new builds
  • Proactive review of inside plant facilities to determine necessary upgrades and enhancements
  • Coordinate with peer Engineers for project design and construction to resolving roadblocks
  • Generate weekly reporting for broadband usage not limited to but including specific reports based on PUC/legal/regulatory requirements; engineering specific reports: congestion; total customer activations & deliverables.
  • Maintain inter-company relations to provide the information needed by sales, project management, construction, and operations for special projects

To be successful in the role you will have (Qualifications):

  • B.S Engineering or equivalent preferred, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an IP Engineer position.
  • Experienced in planning designing, deploying, and managing IP networks
  • Experience on any active electronics is preferred: Calix, Adtran, Nokia, Fortinet, etc.
  • Must have working knowledge of fiber network /operations management tools
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge with a heavy emphasis on inside plant design, cable count design, and capacities.
  • Knowledge of approved Ethernet Fiber Optics Converter (EFC) /engineering systems/equipment is also required
  • Flexibility to work during night shifts & planned on call availability
  • Strong interpersonal skills are very important in discussions and meetings with the engineering design team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians
  • Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools to include CAD, Ethernet order systems, circuit design, organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results.
  • Experience in fiber optics circuit designs and order processing.
  • Outside plant construction, project management experience, and inventory management experience are a plus
  • Depended on providing accurate budgetary ISP project estimates
