Functional Job Title: Electronics Technician IDetailed Job Title: Electronics Technician I
Basic Function: Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment and systems such as computer equipment, launch and recovery systems, missile control instrumentation, lighting assemblies, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls. Ability to apply principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, electronic and electrical testing. Some computer skills required such as Microsoft office and excel.
Management Scope: Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is spot-checked for accuracy.

· Performs such tasks as replacing components and wiring circuits

· Repairing simple electronic equipment

· Taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Job Training:
Work Experience: In general, the work of the electronics technician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Certifications:

Knowledge

Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Skills

Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

Abilities

Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Written Comprehension — The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

Arm-Hand Steadiness — The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.

Personal Lifting Capacity – The ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight.

Mobility – the ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).

Vision — The ability to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
