Description

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced purchasing manager to manage procurement functions of Custom Engineering Company and ensure that all specified materials, services and supplies are available on time and at a cost within established budget.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Supervise and direct activities of Purchasing Department personnel.
• Establish practices and procedures to be followed by requisitioners and other Department personnel.
• Negotiating price and delivery.
• Select vendors and develop business relationships for the benefit of the companies.
• Assess vendor capabilities.
• Develop alternative vendor sources.
• Evaluate vendor performance.
• Recommend major purchases of materials based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
• Maintain and ensure all purchasing documents are properly completed and the terms and conditions of purchases are appropriate.
• Responsible for all department records being maintained.
• Ensure purchases are complete or expedited when required.
• Undertake specifically assigned projects relating to procurement and provides summaries, reports, and recommendations on these subjects as needed.
• Develop relations with shop personnel to help achieve Company-wide savings.
• Provide estimating department with pricing to ensure accurate estimating.
• Perform other duties as required, assigned, or directed.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree with three (3) or more years of successful purchasing experience
• CPSM certification preferred
• The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Being adept at interpreting written material.
• The ability to interpret and apply applicable purchasing laws.
• Experience in Excel, Word and Search Engines
• Experience in Visual Manufacturing software preferred.
