Job Description

The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the planning and delivery of employee/volunteer-related tasks i.e. providing oversight in accordance with policies and the Florida Nurse Practice Act, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.

Qualifications

 Florida LPN license.

 Must be Certified Hospice and Palliative Registered Nurse (CHPRN) within 12 months.

 Florida driver’s license with current auto insurance.

 Minimum of two year’s medical and/or hospice experience.

 LPN must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills.

 Familiarity with medical and health care terminology and language.

 Effective problem-solving skills and good analytical skills.

 Superb customer service skills.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Attendance is a condition of employment.

 Provide program development strategies for Treasure Coast Hospice, in an organized, routine capacity that will enable the cohesion of team developments. Work collaboratively with other departments, demonstrate and encourage leadership for a comprehensive approach to program development. Inspire staff to live the Treasure Coast Hospice’s Mission, to achieve its Vision, and demonstrate our Values and Commitment. Be current in legal and compliance hospice issues.

 To meet or exceed identifiable standards for the position.

Key Result Areas

 Responsible for upholding Treasure Coast Hospice/Model Standards for employee health and compliant documentation.

 Understanding and adhere to TCH Standards.

 Motivate and lead self with confidence, energy and integrity.

 Administer medications according to policy and procedures, to include evaluating for response and effectiveness, and document accordingly.

 Administer medications, which include controlled substances, in accordance to physician orders and policy and procedures.

 Destroy medications that are considered narcotic in nature and all other medication that is no longer being used in accordance with policy.

 Administration, employee follow-up and tracking of: PPD Skin Test; Influenza Vaccination and Declination; FIT Testing; CPR Certification

 Coordinate and conduct Vaccination Clinics

 Support TCH Infection Control Initiatives

 Assist in planning and operation of annual Clinical Skills Fair

 Assist in planning and operation of annual Clinical Competencies

 Participation in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Initiatives and Reporting

 Participate as an active supporter of the Treasure Coast Hospice compliance program, including the emphasis to report, as well as complying with all Federal, State and Local laws as well as the organization’s compliance program.

 Fulfill all responsibilities related to the success of the strategic plan of the organization, as requested and assigned.
