Clinical Supervisor Job Description
Congratulations! You are a clinical supervisor and will be shaping and molding the clinical learning of a new therapist or intern. It is an awesome job and we are glad that you are offering your support and expertise!
We wanted to outline some things in terms of what the job looks like and what we provide as well as what is expected of you. So, here goes:
Clinical Supervisors Requirements:
  1. Any clinical supervisor at TSPA, TSMD, or TSDE will have State approval to hold the supervisory role.
  2. Any clinical supervisor will create a supervision agreement with each supervisee that they have. This is in addition to any employment agreements, etc with TSPA, TSMD, or TSDE. If you need an example of what this looks like, you can ask your site supervisor or clinical director. This needs to be signed by you and by your supervisee and should be passed on to HR to load into the employee files.
  3. We want to support you in clinical supervision, so you will need to attend Clinical Supervisors meetings 2x/mo (Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm). This will be a place for you to bring questions, get some training and talk about things that come up with supervisees to get the benefit of the brain trust of the group of supervisors.
  4. You will also need to watch all of the trainings in the Trauma Specialists Training Academy. This will ensure that you are confident with the skills that we use at TSPA, TSMD, and TSDE in addition to knowing what your supervisees are learning as part of the process of their training here.
  5. The Clinical Director is your direct supervisor for clinical supervision. Feel free to bring any concerns to the CD, or any of your peers in the CS group. We are here to support each other!
  6. You will need to sign off on notes for your supervisee. This needs to be kept up to date weekly if possible. For us to bill insurance your supervisees notes need to be completed and signed by you. Please create a system that works best for you and communicate that to your supervisee. It is best to have a deadline for them that gives you time to review and sign off on notes as well.
  7. Discretion is required for this role. Please do not share what happens in your supervisee sessions outside of the supervisors group or with the clinical director. We want to protect the privacy of our staff where we can!
  8. We would love for you to be actively pursuing your EMDR Certification, since supervision at TSMD/DE/PA heavily relies on being able to support clinicians with EMDR therapy.
