The Nursing program provides medical support to all of the students and staff in the building. Individuals are required to maintain strict confidentiality when working in this environment and it is essential that all HIPPA and FERPA privacy laws are followed at all times. The Health assistant works under the direction of the school nurse in the building and may provide assistance to the Director of Nursing. Health assistants can be assigned to any building to provide support Responsibilities
Monitor and assist students as needed in the clinic and with daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings.
Assist in basic first aid under the direction of the school nurse.
Be able to enter medical information in the electronic health record (EHR)
Participate in staff meetings.
Assist with hearing, vision, and BMI screenings and enter information in the EHR.
Assist with monitoring of students with healthcare needs.
Assist with students requiring self-help skills in the areas of safety, eating, and toileting.
Ensure the clinic areas are clean and tidy
Organize supplies
Remain professional and keep student information confidential at all times.
Assist with filing, typing, copying, ordering of supplies and supply distribution, data collection, and other general office duties
Provide additional support to the nursing program as needed
Qualifications
Minimum of two years of college or equivalent two years experience working with children
Preferred experience in a health setting
Must be able to lift and bend
First Aid/ CPR certification preferred Supplemental Information
