A Day in the Life of A VP of Aircraft Maintenance Planning As the VP of Aircraft Maintenance Planning, your overall responsibility is for the correct and effective scheduling and planning of all line and base maintenance events to maximize aircraft availability and enhance reliability ("Planning") by the approved Aircraft Inspection Manual to support the operation. Your expertise will be in demonstrating strong leadership abilities in creating a highly effective Planning Team, including an efficient department structure; defining and implementing effective processes; and selecting, coaching, and mentoring staff to create a highly successful organization. Essential Duties of The VP of Aircraft Maintenance Planning
This position will report directly to the Director of Maintenance
Ensure the correct scheduling of tasks related to all the Alert Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives are performed to ensure published time limits are not exceeded
Responsible for ensuring aircraft, engines, and component maintenance is performed by the time limits and intervals outlined in the approved Aircraft Inspection Manual relevant to the operation and aircraft type in coordination with MCC, Procurement, Materials, and Management to maximize aircraft availability
Responsible for issuing requests for proposals, the evaluation and assessment of maintenance proposals, and negotiating and contracting scheduled maintenance events
Ensure all Work Orders issued by Planning are compliant with Approved or Acceptable Data, ADs, or relevant Authority's recommendations, where applicable
Responsible for issuing Work Orders for line and base maintenance events, including, when appropriate, modifications, overhauls, refurbishments, painting, etc., to the selected supplier promptly and per the signed Maintenance Services Agreement or Maintenance Agreement, as appropriate
Manages on-site technical representatives overseeing scheduled maintenance events to ensure Work Orders are performed to the agreed standards, budget and downtime, and issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner to minimize impact to the operation
Supports in ensuring a return to service is performed by the Chief Inspector written procedures for all maintenance activities managed by the Planning Department
Manages and guides the managed aircraft focals
Develops the metrics and procedures to maximize aircraft availability
Collaborates with MCC to close MEL, CDL, or deferred maintenance items on time
Responsible for developing and implementing an effective method to ensure that all data in the maintenance software programs is accurate and complete, including periodic spot checks
Collaborates with the Procurement and Materials Department to ensure efficient processing of rotatable core returns and for the repair and return of company-owned spares
Develop strategies to ensure required service levels are met while controlling costs and maintaining budget targets
Responsible for creating effective budgeting tools for the department
Develops and oversees the annual Planning budget to support the operation
Maintains effective communication within the department, the operation, and suppliers
Defines the roles and responsibilities of Planning Department personnel
Direct and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in the department
Works with Human Resources to recruit qualified members for the Planning Department, create career paths for each team member, and provide the support necessary for each team member to attain the agreed goals
Develop minimum training standards that meet the requirements established by the SVP Continuing Airworthiness and ensure department staff are trained to those standards
Ensures the Chief Inspector receives Department personnel training records on time
Prepares and leads the Planning Department in scheduled and short-notice compliance audits, ensuring that all findings are investigated and resolved within the timeframe agreed with the Compliance Department
Ensure the Planning Department functions in an effective and efficient manner.

Proven experience in creating and leading successful teams
Effective communicator within their team, the operation, and other business units
Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing effective aircraft scheduling and planning processes in an airline, cargo, or charter operation
Practical experience performing aircraft planning, scheduling, work package development, release to service, and technical records administration
Very good understanding of aircraft maintenance and scheduling software programs
Possess a solid understanding of the following concerning the certificate holder's operation.
Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
14 CFR Chapter I (Federal Aviation Regulations)
The certificate holder's operations specifications and manuals required by 135.21
All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements, including Parts 1, 21, 43, 91, 135, and 145, applicable to the position of VP Materials
Very good negotiation skills
Solid understanding of business finance, materials management, and aircraft operations
Ideally, a post-secondary diploma or degree in aviation management, an A&P license (or equivalent), or extensive experience in a similar position
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in aviation maintenance, aeronautical engineering, or a related field.
Relevant professional certifications, such as an A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license or equivalent
Extensive working experience in aircraft maintenance, with a strong understanding of regional jets, commercial airlines, cargo carriers, and business operations with regulatory requirements
10 years of proven experience in aircraft planning and engineering, ideally in the aviation industry
Excellent knowledge of maintenance management systems and software
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner
Detail-oriented and well-organized, with a focus on accuracy and compliance
Ability to adapt training methodologies to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Flexibility to travel, as required, to various operational locations
Must be a U.S. citizen
