Meet the team:
Our dynamic team includes diverse expertise from Autonomy, Trucking, Automotive, IoT, and Aerospace industries. Responsible for modeling the behavior of our cutting-edge Self-Driving Truck and Mission Control systems, we create top-level requirements driving design and testing efforts. With a global presence spanning the United States and Germany, we collaborate closely with stakeholders across Torc, fostering collaboration and driving our product to market.
What you'll do:
Torc is looking for a Staff Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership to a team responsible for defining, tracking, and updating the requirements for the system used to manage and interact with a fleet of self-driving trucks. This team provides a central role in the product development process, refining product needs into verifiable requirements that drive the development of Torc's Mission Control software suite. To achieve this goal, the team works closely with product managers, systems, safety, software, and hardware teams.
  • Collaborate with product managers to understand the customer and business needs for mission control tools
  • Define requirements to guide the development of mission control tools for autonomous trucks, covering topics such as mission management, remote assistance, and roadside interaction
  • Collect feedback from implementation, testing, and verification activities, driving improvements to the specification
  • Determine how mission control components shall interact with each other and the self-driving truck to produce the desired operational features and capabilities of the product
  • Work with subject matter experts to evaluate tradeoffs through the design process
  • Employ model-based design practices to specify the behavior of the system
  • Build physical, logical, and behavioral architecture models, capturing different views of the system under development
  • Collaborate with all areas of the system, software, and hardware development for autonomous trucks sharing experience, driving progress of the project using a systems engineering viewpoint
  • Mentor other team members, growing the overall systems engineering expertise of the team
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Master's degree in systems engineering, computer science, robotics, or related technical field
  • 7 years technical design experience for robotic, automotive, or aerospace systems
  • Broad understanding of engineering fundamentals and design of software heavy systems
  • Direct experience authoring requirements for a system or complex software application
  • Open to occasional travel to partner or customer facilities
Bonus Points!
  • Experience with fleet management software, transportation management, hub management
  • Experience with development of Autonomous Vehicles or related support tools
  • Experience developing cloud software applications where compliance to standards is required, for example Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards
  • Model-based systems engineering experience
  • Software development experience

US Pay Range
$168,800-$202,600 USD
