Description
Unipec America, Inc. is looking for a Senior Contracts Specialist to join our legal team. The Senior Contract Specialist develops contracts supporting the Trading Team which plays a key role in promoting smooth execution of the Company's transactions. This role will also ensure the continued evolution of agreements as the company expands across the Americas. It will be critical for this role to collaborate with key internal partners on matters related to terms and conditions, serving as a communication point between the Legal, Trading, Operations, Demurrage, Finance, and Risk departments.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for routing trading contracts through the approval process.
  • Responsible for contractual communications with external parties (mainly in writing).
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of documentation, forms, templates, and related processes.
  • Draft and review (complex) purchase and sale agreements (crude oil and products) based on deal recaps and/or other confirmation without the help of an automated contract system; identify differences and possible issues, draft counter offers.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Trading, Operations, Demurrage, Risk, Finance, and other applicable departments/teams to ensure complex contracts are effective and mitigate risk for the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5 years of contract experience in related industry
  • Highly organized self-starter with strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to deliver a high level of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proofreading skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with both internal and external stakeholders with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Willingness to handle complex and simple, both interesting and repetitive tasks when needed.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
