Toledo Clinic's General Surgery Department is seeking a part-time MA/Surgery Scheduler. This position will work Monday (8-5), Wednesday (8-1) and Thursday (8-5). Previous experience scheduling surgeries is preferred. Qualified candidates will have a current RMA/CMA, CCMA, or ABR-OE recognition.
General Summary:
Schedules office, hospital, and/or surgical procedures for the office.
Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:
1) Schedules surgical procedures or lab work, x-rays, etc. at the clinic and/or hospitals.
2) Completes consent forms with the patient.
3) Completes billing duties.
4) Performs various clerical duties (phones, appointments, etc..)
Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):
6) Organizes charts for present surgery patients.
7) Compiles and submits pre-certification information to appropriate personnel.
9) Types correspondences, memos, and letters.
10) Maintains the physician’s calendar up to date with surgeries and/or procedures and informs physician of any changes in the schedule.
11) Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Required:
- Previous surgery scheduling experience required or minimum of 2 years medical receptionist experience along with a medical terminology course.
- Excellent organizational skills and patience required.
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Active RMA/CMA/CCMA or ABR-OE.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
- Medical terminology and medical insurance coursework helpful.
Preferred:
- Previous scheduling experience in a medical office.
