POSITION OBJECTIVES: Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to Assembly Mechanic IV or Production Manager.
• Build new pumps, provide assistance in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and controls.
• Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures.
• Know, understand, and abide by environmental policies.
• Use specialized equipment such as tape measure, band saw, hand grinders, steam cleaner etc.
• Perform basic metalworking duties such as measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling and deburring parts.
• Operate forklift to unload and handle raw materials.
• Assemble components using basic hand tools.
• Read and follow blueprints and work instructions.
• Perform a wide range of shop duties to support the Engineering Group.
• Maintain work area and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or GED required; graduate of a technical/vocational training program is preferred. Industry Certification Preferred.
• Entry Level Position.
• Must have good working knowledge of D.C. electrical systems and troubleshooting.
• Requires the ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
• The ability to work productively in teams as well as individually.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
