The University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial is Hiring a Registered Dietitian II, Inpatient, Part-Time, Days Near Harvey, IL

Job Description:

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Registered Dietitian II. In this role you will partner with the rest of the adult inpatient clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care.

Job Summary:

Assess nutrition status, establish nutrition diagnosis(es), develop intervention strategies and monitor/evaluate nutrition care plans in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Perform duties in support of, and in compliance with, performance improvement plans, and with requirements of regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies. Educate patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members about the effectiveness of therapeutic diets and nutrition support regimens to improve/maintain nutritional status and establish optimal outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs the nutrition care process (nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis and determination of care goals, nutrition intervention, and monitoring and evaluation) for patients at nutrition risk and others identified per department standards as in need of nutrition care.

Provides age-specific patient education (assessment of learning needs and barriers to learning; communication with patient/caregivers and assessing learning transfer) and develop materials as needed to augment the education process.

Calculates nutrient requirements and intake.

Assesses need for and determines appropriate composition, rate, etc. of enteral tube feeding and standard parenteral nutrition, if applicable

Uses computer programs to access information and communicate with other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Documents clinical care according to organizational guidelines

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of BS/BA degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major
  • Must have an MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major or a specialty certification relevant to position (e.g. Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certified Nutrition Support Clinicial, Certified Specialist in Oncology, Certified Specialist in Renal)
  • Three ( ) years of clinical experience
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and relevant practice groups preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work with patients and staff from diverse cultural, educational, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Computer literacy (minimum Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic)

Licenses:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation
  • Specialty certification related to area of clinical practice / relevant to position (e.g. Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Oncology, Certified Specialist in Renal)

Position Details:

  • Job Type/FTE: Part- Time (0.5 FTE)
  • Shift: Days (8am-4:30pm)
  • Schedule: No weekend/ holiday requirement

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
