This position works 7.5 hours per day and 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. To provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours. - (Essential)
Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi. Coordinate clinical experiences and maintain public relations with the respective cooperative agencies. Coordinate skills laboratory related to clinical skills, procedures, and assignments. Keep abreast of current trends in the operating room and the regulations of the Surgical Technology specialty. - (Essential)
Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process. - (Essential)
Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities, including SkillsUSA, NTHS, graduation, and other events. - (Essential)
Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement as well as accreditation standards. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications
Must hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or must hold a Tech in Surgery Certification issued by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Maintaining certification throughout employment is required.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of operating room experience or teaching experience in the field of Surgical Technology or a combination equal to three (3) years within the last five (5) years.
Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Surgical Technology
Current American Heart Association CPR BLS Certification-Healthcare provider with AED
Current Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in a related field.
Prior Teaching Experience
Registered Nurse with a current unencumbered license in the state of TN with an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Must be knowledgeable in course content, effective in directing/evaluating student learning, and student lab and clinical performance.
Possess organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor
Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Strong customer service skills
Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
