Overview
The Spence School seeks a dynamic, passionate, growth-oriented Head Teacher to join our innovative and highly collaborative Lower School. This position represents an exciting opportunity to join a school engaged in the ongoing refinement of a nurturing and rigorous approach to teaching and learning whose foundation is the abiding belief that all children are curious and able learners.
Responsibilities
  • Teach all disciplines related to the homeroom curriculum
  • Collaborate in teaching teams to design curriculum, assessments, and teaching methods
  • Mentor and partner with an associate teacher
  • Participate in department and division-wide initiatives about issues of equity, pedagogy, curriculum and citizenship
  • Engage with parents about individual children and grade wide curriculum

  • Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experience
  • Demonstrates pedagogical skill and an appreciation for the science and the craft of teaching

  • Enjoys a commitment that extends beyond the classroom, including contributions to the larger school community
  • Possesses Masters degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
  • Elementary teaching experience
