The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for an Assistant Shelter Director for our Center of Hope Shelter located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Job Summary:
Working closely with the Shelter Director, the Shelter Assistant Director is responsible for the operation of the Shelter, the care of residents of the Shelter, and the development and implementation of programs that will aid Shelter residents in the movement toward self-sufficiency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to effectively utilize a computer.
Have a comprehensive proficiency in Windows programs, which include Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Possess maturity and confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Have good personal interaction and phone skills.
Education and Experience:
Must be 21 years or older.
Must have a minimum of one-year social service or public service experience.
Ability to work independently or with other staff and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
Must be able to utilize all necessary equipment adequately (computer, calculator, telephone, stove, oven, preparation appliances, sharp food preparation instruments, etc.).
Maintain a high degree of cleanliness and organization within all shelter and food services areas.
Have good time management skills.
Must have knowledge of safe food handling techniques and maintain a valid food handler's certificate.
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License
Food Services Handlers Card.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead.
Ability to lift to 40 pounds.
Ability to understand written information and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal Shelter environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather. There may be occasion when discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like are encountered.
