We are currently seeking a person who identifies strongly with our mission and core values to join our team in
Summerville, SC as an
Assembly Sewer III. This is an ideal role for someone who has
3 years of sewing experience and who
can work independently to clearly understand work instructions for specifications and drawings for each project . Experience working with people with disabilities, or diverse backgrounds including young and elderly is also strongly preferred.
Purpose: Uses various machines to sew a variety of materials to meet customer specifications.
Responsibilities : - Understands requirements from work instructions including specifications and drawings.
- Layout and cut material using templates.
- Utilizes equipment such as calipers, rulers, tape measure and scales.
- Able to perform and understand different sewing methods.
- Ability to identify materials in assigned area.
- Independently select, align and use cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials.
- Sets controls to regulate sewing machine factors.
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot problems on machines.
- Ability to do first part inspect for jobs for others within their area.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications per SOP set forth in our BMS.
- Confers with supervisor to resolve machining problems and have the ability to communicate concerns with maintenance if needed.
- Train in assembly jobs outside of regular duties.
- Trains employees in sewing area with the willingness to further their education as assigned by supervisor.
- Ensures the adherence to company safety and health standards, policies and procedures by monitoring personnel, machinery and work environment.
- Immediately notifies supervisor and/or Human Resources of any safety and health concerns and problems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: - High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 3 year sewing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit up to 8 hours with standard rest-periods.
- Ability to perform work assignments requiring repetitive motions.
- Ability to work schedule as assigned.
