In this position, you will perform and oversee the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Housekeeping Department, its programs and activities.
• Maintain written housekeeping policies and procedures.
• Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, patients, visitors, government agencies, etc.
• Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Housekeeping Department.
• Coordinate housekeeping services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, etc.).
• Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the Housekeeping Department.
• Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
• Report all accidents/incidents to Human Resources.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in patient living and/or recreational areas.
• Assist the Infection Control Coordinator and/or Committee in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job related functions to ensure that housekeeping tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
• Inspect storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, linen closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
• Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
• Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and recommend to the Administrator adjustments in housekeeping services that assure the continued ability to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment and provide adequate linens to patients.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc.
• Delegate a responsible staff member to act in your behalf when you are absent from the facility.
• Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
• File complaints/grievances with your Administrator.

Experience/Education

Must have experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.
