Are you interested in working in multi-disciplinary teams to advance the state-of-the-art in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, software design, embedded systems, virtual reality, simulation and/or unmanned air platforms?

Are you interested in applying your skills to conceive, design, prototype and test new capabilities in intelligent autonomous systems that will save US warfighter's lives and ensure our nation's preeminence?

We are the Intelligent Combat Platforms Group, and our mission focus is to ensure that our Nation maintains the operational advantage on the future battlefield through foundational advances in artificial intelligence, autonomy, manned-unmanned teaming and novel unmanned aircraft (e.g. drones) design and testing.

We believe the future of warfare will be defined by intelligent autonomous systems capable of fighting with machine precision at machine speeds. Whether it is developing the intelligence that drives autonomous wingmen behaviors, integrated real-time collaboration tools and data analytic architectures, or novel AI design tools and software, the Intelligent Combat Platforms Group is at the forefront. As a Software Test Engineer - Autonomous Systems, you will...

  • Research and develop new and novel approaches for test and evaluation of AI and autonomous systems software.
  • Develop software test plans, procedures, processes, and reports for AI and autonomous system software.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to determine strategies for scenario, stress, and requirements-based testing.
  • Run static and dynamic code analysis tools on incremental software deliveries.
  • Develop test applications and metrics to benchmark performance.
  • Support lab, ground and flight testing of AI and autonomous systems including testing at remote locations.
  • Provide test and evaluation expertise to customers on performers testing approaches, plans, schedules, and capabilities to ensure program success.
Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another related field.
  • Have at least five years of relevant experience in software engineering and test.
  • Have at least five years of relevant experience in various software testing techniques and the ability to use them in practice: smoke testing, system testing, regression testing, stress testing, performance testing.
  • Have the ability to develop techniques and tools to automate testing.
  • Have proficiency in scripting languages including Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
  • Have experience creating test documentation (test plans, reports, metrics).
  • Are familiar with Java, Python, .NET, C/C , UML, and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Have demonstrated strength with communication skills - both verbal and written and possess the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Are able to travel within CONUS to U.S. Government and defense contractor's sites as well as to the work locations of Group staff.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a Master's degree (or higher) in Computer Science/Engineering, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or another related field.
  • Have a strong knowledge of Quality Assurance methodology and tools.
  • Have experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud.
  • Possess relevant certifications such as: Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE), Certified Manager of Software Testing (CMST), ISTQB Agile Tester Certification.
  • Are well-versed in using professional software development tools such as integrated development environments (IDE), version control, issue trackers, debuggers and continuous integration tools and willing to lead teams through integration processes.
  • Have experience developing software test stands and laboratory environments.
  • Have experience working with unmanned aircraft test and evaluation.
  • Have experience with test and evaluation related to autonomy, AI, and/or machine learning.
  • Have an active Top Secret clearance.
