Responsibilities Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to become a part of Peratons' Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective, and secure business processes. Location: On-site in Arlington, VA Key Requirements & Responsibilities: * Lead and Manage: * Small IT/Support team of network and server administrators on a program of * Windows Server Administration:
* Manage and administer Windows servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, roles, and features.
* Ensure servers are properly configured for optimal performance, security, and reliability.
* Professional Windows Cluster Setup:
* Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering for high availability and fault tolerance.
* Configure and manage Windows cluster resources, including shared storage and cluster networks.
* Windows Server iSCSI Multipath Configuration:
* Implement and configure iSCSI multipathing on Windows servers to ensure redundant and high-performance storage connectivity.
* Troubleshoot and optimize iSCSI multipath configurations for maximum efficiency and reliability.
* Networking Expertise:
* Perform subnet configuration to segment and organize network traffic effectively.
* Configure switches and VLANs to optimize network performance and security.
* Troubleshoot networking issues, including connectivity problems and performance degradation.
* Understand Fibre Channel and iSCSI SFP technologies and their integration within the network infrastructure.
* Array Configuration:
* Configure storage arrays, including Dell SAN storage such as ME40X series, to meet performance and capacity requirements.
* Optimize array configurations for specific workloads and applications.
* Troubleshoot array-related issues and implement solutions to ensure uninterrupted storage access.
* MPiO Installation and Configuration:
* Install and configure Multipath I/O (MPiO) software to enable redundant and load-balanced paths to storage devices.
* Ensure MPiO configurations are properly optimized for performance and reliability.
* Dell Server and SAN Storage Troubleshooting and Configuration:
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Dell servers and SAN storage systems, including hardware failures, performance bottlenecks, and configuration errors.
* Configure Dell servers and SAN storage systems according to best practices and specific requirements.
* Virtualization Administration:
* Configure and maintain Virtual Desktop, Server, and Network Infrastructure (i.e. VMware, VDI, ESXi, Hyper-V) to include Active Directory, and File Share Servers.
You will: * Lead and manage small IT Support team and server administrators, manage domain accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment for * Maintain, patch, and update software and hardware used in the digital forensics laboratory to ensure compatibility and effectiveness.
* Install, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain on-premises network infrastructure, workstations, servers, system hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in accordance with CIF & Department standards.
* Install, replace, configure, and optimize network routers and switches.
* Validate and manage network backup and disaster recovery procedures.
* Document and maintain connectivity diagrams for CIF hosted systems.
* Propose and implement improvements to modernize existing network architecture and infrastructure to support virtualization, and cloud (Azure) integrations. * Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current on-premises IT infrastructure,
including hardware, software, networking, and security components.
* Identify strengths, weaknesses, bottlenecks, and areas of improvement in the existing
* Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT personnel, management, and other
relevant groups, to gather insights on infrastructure pain points and business
* Work with stakeholders to define future IT requirements and goals over the next three
years, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
* Produce a detailed 3- to 5-year modernization plan, including milestones, timelines,
budget estimates, and recommended technologies.
* Research and stay updated on emerging technology trends and best practices in IT
infrastructure, including cloud computing (e.g Azure), virtualization, security protocols, and remote
access solutions.
* Identify potential risks associated with the current infrastructure and proposed
modernization plan.
* Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address possible challenges.
* Integrate new capabilities (e.g., Azure cloud solutions) with the existing laboratory operations.#DSCM Qualifications Required: * Bachelors in science degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
* 12 years of relevant (network and server administration) experience. * Minimum of 2 years in a leadership, manager, or supervisory role. * Windows Server experience with Windows Server Administration; Professional Windows Cluster Setup; Windows Server iSCSI Multipath Configuration.

Target Salary Range $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
