POSITION SUMMARY :

The Forensic Services Program Office is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Forensic Rapid DNA Program Coordinator.

In this position you will spearhead the integration and implementation of Rapid DNA technology as it pertains to crime scene sample analysis, playing a pivotal role in streamlining workflows and fostering collaboration between our laboratory and local law enforcement partners.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about using cutting-edge technology to solve crimes faster and thrives in a collaborative environment, bridging the gap between science and law enforcement.

NOTE : The incumbent for this position can be located at any of the Regional Operations Centers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Specific duties include :

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive Rapid DNA program for crime scene sample analysis and search of CODIS;
  • Collaborating with laboratory personnel and local law enforcement agencies to establish protocols and procedures for Rapid DNA casework;
  • Training laboratory staff and law enforcement partners on the proper collection, handling, and submission of Rapid DNA samples;
  • Managing and coordinating the logistics of Rapid DNA analysis, including scheduling, sample transfer, and data exchange;
  • Ensuring compliance with all accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements;
  • Analyzing program data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize workflows;
  • Developing and maintaining program documentation, policies, training materials, and SOPs; and
  • Staying current on evolving Rapid DNA technology and best practices.

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.

S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in forensic science, criminalistics or in a physical or natural science;
  • Completion of a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Crime Laboratory Analyst training program (or a comparable training program); and
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a qualified crime laboratory analyst in Biology / DNA or DNA Database.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Knowledge of FDLE’s Policies and Procedures, laboratory policies and accreditation requirements;
  • Strong understanding of DNA analysis and CODIS operations to include FBI Quality Assurance Standards, NDIS standards and CODIS protocols;
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills; and
  • BASE SALARY :
  • $75,000.00
  • $75,000.00

NOTES :

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and / or interview.
