The Role

Do you have a passion for making a real difference in people's lives? Join our team as a Supported Employment Specialist where you'll provide invaluable support to participants with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, and physical/sensory disabilities. Your role will be crucial in helping economically inactive individuals secure sustainable, fulfilling employment that matches their preferences and abilities.

Location: Office-based in Crewe and Macclesfield with occasional outreach (travel expenses covered)

Salary: £28,550

Key Responsibilities:

  • Caseload Management: Oversee a diverse caseload, conducting initial appointments and crafting action plans to ensure effective and tailored support for participants at varying levels of job readiness.
  • Solution Finder: Identify and recommend training and vacancy solutions, working closely with your team to meet the unique needs of participants and employers.
  • Network Builder: Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, Job Centre teams, and funding providers, to create opportunities for participants.
  • Exceptional Service Delivery: Uphold our high customer service standards, ensuring every participant receives the support they need to maximise their employment prospects.
  • Intensive 1:1 Support: Provide personalised guidance to help participants identify their skills, aspirations, and goals, and create actionable plans to achieve and sustain employment, following Supported Employment standards.
  • Holistic Support: Assess participants' needs, offering guidance on benefits/welfare, mental health disclosure, and other support as required.
  • Integrated Approach: For participants with severe mental health challenges, use the Individual Placement Support methodology, collaborating with community mental health and clinical teams to support recovery through employment.
  • Quality Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate participant records in line with our quality standards to document their journey effectively.

About You:

  • Experienced and Empathetic: Proven experience in supporting individuals with mental/physical health issues or disabilities, ideally within vocational rehabilitation or welfare-to-work settings.

  • Resilient and Motivated: Determined to seek out job opportunities, motivate participants, and overcome barriers to employment.
  • Excellent Communicator: Strong communication skills to engage with employers and positively shift perceptions around disability and mental health.
  • Digitally Savvy: Comfortable using technology to support participants both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Target-Driven: Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Desired but not essential: 

  • Driving license and own car
  • Knowledge of Supported Employment (SE) and Individual Placement and Support (IPS) models
  • Level 3 qualification in Employability/Supported Employment
  • QCF Level 3 in Advice & Guidance
  • Mental Health First Aid certification
