Job Description
We are immediately hiring in Austin, Texas area! Join us at Easterseals Lonestar for an exciting career as a Community Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator.
Position Overview: The Community Engagement & Advocacy Coordinator plays a pivotal role in coordinating volunteer efforts, conducting outreach activities, overseeing the operations of the ESLS Vaughn House location and its programs, and advocating for Easterseals Lonestar and its clients. This position requires a passionate individual with strong organizational skills, a deep commitment to social justice, and the ability to engage with diverse communities effectively.
Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at Easterseals Lonestar:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support various programs and services offered by Easterseals Lonestar.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to ensure coverage for events and activities.
  • Identify and attend community events/outreach opportunities to promote ESLS programs and activities.
  • Provide referrals for clients when additional services/resources are needed.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment by providing ongoing support and recognition.
2. Oversee Vaughn House Operations:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the center, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and program goals, including completing funder reports.
  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager, develop and implement person-centered plans for participants, focusing on individual goals and outcomes.
  • Serve as a back-up for overseeing fitness program in the Manager's absence.
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for program staff.
3. Advocate and Parent Trainer:
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to educate community members, volunteers, and staff on issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and exploitation.
  • Implement Nurturing Parenting programs to the parents of ESLS clients.
  • Collaborate with community partners to create educational materials and resources.
  • Organize outreach events to raise awareness and promote advocacy and training initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field
  • CPR/First-Aid Certification, or ability to obtain within first 30-days of employment.
  • Preferred Certification as a Personal Trainer or Exercise Physiologist from a recognized accrediting body (e.g., ACSM, NASM, ACE), or willingness to obtain at agency's expense.
  • Experience in advocacy, community engagement, and volunteer management.
  • Knowledge of issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and disability rights.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and person-centered approaches.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Working vehicle and will be in-office daily (Monday-Friday, 8 am- 5 pm) at 1701 Evergreen Ave, Austin TX 78704.
